Negotiating Language Policies in Schools

Post by JDRRowan » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:21 am

The school highlighted in this book focused on an ELL program that focused on teaching the students English without any native language support. The book went on to describe that Washington State has many programs similar to this. If I did not support the native language of my ESL students in my classroom, I would not achieve high scorces of some of the various environment screenings that are used in my classroom in New Jersey. It is in our Pre-K expectations to support native language. I am wondering what environmental scales are used on these classrooms?
