Online Games

Post by DanielO » Thu Aug 19, 2004 12:09 pm

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone out there can help me come up with a list of online games that we could use and the web sites to find them at?

Thanks
Dan

There is a good site for making word puzzles called puzzlemaker.com. You can use with first graders on up. However, if you don't pay the fee you have to print the puzzle from the computer you make the puzzle on. It will only download to disk if you pay the fee.

hey dan,
can you let me know if you already have tried some games? Also, which games were most effective in terms of classroom management as some activities can get out of hand.

Thanks

Hey Raakhee,

What do you mean by negative?

playing cards

Post by jay » Thu Aug 26, 2004 11:56 am

hey raakhee,
do you mean 'negative' as in promote gambling or just playfulness? Playfulness is fine as long as it's controlled and the kids don't think that they can play cards all day. Gambling, on the other hand, maybe a bit tricky because while we as teachers are not expressing any gambling notions, the kids may go home and tell their parents what they did at school and the parents themselves may have an issue with it. I myself have not had any problems.

yes this is exactly my concern...however, i am a strong believer in making learning more interseting for the children. as this will encourage the children to want to learn and enable to understand certain topics

what do you think?

hey everyone,
has anyone had any parent confrontations? I had one today and i wasn't quite sure how to deal with it. The problem was that this particular child never does as he is told so i have to keep telling him to be quiet.....all in a days work of classroom management. However, the parent cold involved as the child complained to them that i was picking onhim. What do i do? I have a meeting with them tomorrow....please help.

I think that some games can really stimulate the creativity of the children, which is a good skill to develop. Creativity can help them grasp some concepts better.
