Dogs bark, birds chirp and bees buzz... Does anyone know sound a cricket makes?!

When I first saw the question, I thought that crickets "chirp" the site you listed seems to use that term more than "sing".
I think it's cicadas that "sing" more than "chirp", but I think we need the input of some Australians here who, if my general knowlege serves me right, seem to have an awful lot more of the critters than evereyone else.
When "cricket" refers to the sound of leather on willow, I think the sound is "whack", by the way
