He was a lot more than that. He brought rock'n'roll to national TV in the 1950s and 1960s:

Twitting aside, Dick Clark did quite a lot of very good work for race relations through music and television, and hats off to him for this (among many other things).

I always thought he had a youthful charm that came through the eyes despite the surgery and hair dye...like he really loved life, music, and being on tv.
