It's at a public primary/elementary school in Shenzhen
- 14,700 Per month (includes housing allowance)
- 18 lecture hours per week (each class is 45 minutes)
- Paid holiday (all national, winter and spring holiday)
- 6,000 rmb airfare reimbursement upon completion of contract |

So so.
You'll know how the airfare stacks up against your likely actual cost.
Local knowledge required to determine if you can pay for an apartment and still net a reasonable salary. Upfront letting deposits will likely mean needing a bit of dosh on day one.
My other concerns would be getting an apt near campus and querying if all teaching is on one site. |

Who is the recruiter? If it's through PELCC/ Perlandas etc then run for the hills! The salary for a primary school is a little suspect. |

Check out some of the Shenzhen expat sites, there are a few, and see what the locals think of it. |

Those kinds of offers are usually only open to those with > 3 years experience in China, so it's pretty good basically. Almost TGTBT.. so tread carefully
Just to give you some realistic perspective on the numbers -
14700 minus ~1000 for tax, and I don't know how much your housing allowance is but 3000 for a place in a nice area is probably the minimum in SZ, with building management fees likely to add another 10% or so. Also, SZ can be an expensive place to live because temptations abound. It's a very consumer-oriented city, which is actually great if you like shopping and nightlife. |

The job ad is actually a little confusing:-
Quote: |
Bachelor degree or above + TEFL/TESOL + at least two years teaching experience
If you are interested, Please send your CV/Resume, Passport, Education Diploma / Teaching certificate |

Be wary of this one, 18 lecture "hours" often means 24 45-minute periods.
At a public primary/elementary school, I doubt you'll be giving many lectures! |

Actually it says in the contract that a 45-minute class counts as 1 lecture hour. So I'm assuming it's 18 classes |

So, this PELCC is not reputable? I just sent a letter for what I am looking for in a job. They did have many listed with almost unbelievable salaries. Should I forget them?? |

Mr. Perlandas of PELCC will greatly disappoint you. The jobs don't exist; it's a classic bait and switch. He'll get you down there in Shenzhen on a tourist visa, then ask you to sign another contract where you basically work for him with great disadvantages for you like low pay and travelling to multiple locations with excess total hours (because he's skimming all the cream off the top of your salary so the more you work the more he makes) all while working illegally.
Even if he could get you a Z, I wouldn't work for him. He makes the worst Chinese scammers seem honest and forthright.
The jobs look great, even unbelievable, because they don't exist. Don't apply. Don't waste your time.

Housing and bills is most likely going to run you 4,500 - 5,000 minimum. If the salary is taxed another 1,000 is gone. Leaving you around 9,000. You could survive, but do not plan on saving much. Shenzhen is expensive! 14,500 with housing provided would be much better. Make sure you have the proper visa before stepping foot on a plane. They are cracking down! |

Why is that? Aside from high rent, which is expected in more developed cities, Could you fill us in with some details on what makes this city more expensive to live in? |

Thanks Guer-I will no longer have contact with them. I did think that their jobs were just too good to be true. I dont understand how an agency expects to do reputable business when they have a history of screwing people. I got screwed a few years back in accepting my first China job. Never Again!! |
