Check your employment contract to see which allowances are given, or email your contact person for clarification about Al-Hussan's housing provision. But seriously, don't count on getting a furniture allowance since it would eat into the company profits. (Keep in mind these contracting companies are for-profit businesses; their goal is to make money rather than spend it on employees.)

Fewer and fewer companies offer furniture allowances now as their profit margins are tightening and payments from government universities are delayed.

You cannot apply for a furniture allowance. It is either specified in your contract ir it isn't.

If it is in your contract, you will recieve it when you move out of company accommodation and start getting your accommodation allowance.

I suppose I can cross out furniture allowance, as NS stated checking the contract. There's no mention of it on there.

I also wanted to ask, do teachers tend to take their holiday at the end of their contract? so that way you're not paying for an additional round trip to KSA.

Holidays are fixed and the main one is the summer vacation. You will usually get your bonus and holiday pay before you leave in June. Check with your contact for full details.

I don't know what exactly you expect me to confirm. You obviously know someone who works here, so you know as much as I do.

There have been security cameras installed in the downstairs area and the office where this incident occurred.

Be open. That wasn't the only incident. A female teacher was also sexually assaulted in Al Hussan's accomodation by the Al Hussan building manager. Furthermore, there have been other assaults although not by Al Hussan staff. A few security cameras here and there will not stop these individuals. The above incident that I've just mentioned occurred away from where these new security cameras are.

People have a right to know all this. There is no point sugar coating things. If you are aware, then mention it and mention both sides so people can come to a fair judgement.

Again, you seem to be well informed, so why do I need to say anything more!

The cameras were installed after the incident though. It was one of the reasons the female teachers pushed for them.

And yes, there have been incidents within the building, but as I was not involved in any of them, I can't say anything more than what you've already said because I don't know anything more.

I take it from reading this thread that KSU has shared accomodatioon, and it sounds terrible. Do all unis have shared accomodation?

For clarification, contracting companies, not KSU, hire/employ EFL teachers. I doubt any require teachers to live in shared housing but rather, individual apartments usually in employer-designated buildings. Otherwise, they're given a housing allowance to choose where they want to live.
