Hello,

Can anyone recommend some legit schools in Beijing that offer residency sponsorship? I entered China on a Z-visa which my current school here in Xi'an used to get me the RPF; however, on Aug. 30th I'll be moving to Beijing and need to find a new school to sponsor me as a legal foreign resident. The problem is that these schools seem to be few and far between. I've sent my resume to a number of schools already, but none of them offer such sponsorship. According to what I've read here in the forums, I'll have 30 days to find a new job in Beijing after obtaining a stamped letter of release from my current employer. However, I'd rather not leave it to the last minute and risk being deported, so if anyone could recommend some schools that they know offer the RPF to their employees, that would be much appreciated.

It surely must be easy to find that job in Beijing, but do all FTs there have their passports "stamped" with the right one Smile

OP, I am sorry I can't give you a lead there, however you take it up with your prospective employers either prior to your arival in Beijing or during your interviews at schools there. Then, if you are there, the info above by HunanForeignGuy might be of a good help too. Wink

(calling the PSB in Beijing prior to your arrival there might help too)

Thanks for the replies -- HunanForeignGuy, I'll keep that in mind about registering with the PSB right away. Hopefully they're the understanding sort.

englishgibson -- Yeah, there are tons of job opportunities in Beijing, but like you said, the real challenge is finding a place that offers the residency sticker. I've been emailing an average of three places a day for the past couple weeks, and very few have anything to say when I ask about residency..

Another problem for me, is that I plan to take Mandarin classes at least 3 hours a day and will need time to study on top of that, so I don't want to work more than 15-20 hours/week. I guess if worst comes to worst, I can try the option of contacting a friend of a friend of a friend who can supposedly get me the residency renewal "no problem", and then I'd be free to take on tutoring jobs or whatever at my whim. This option seems a little bit shady, though -- anyone have experience using such 'agents'?

My guess is a lot of schools are still offering to get you your "Z visa" which shouldn't be. I mean, if you were coming from out of the country, you'd need to have a Z, then the school would change that over to your residence permit. You might clarify with schools you've contacted if, although they say Z visa, they mean the residence permit.

Yeah, when I ask about the sponsorship though, I'm pretty clear on what I mean -- asking about residency with (Z visa) in parentheses. If they offer one they offer the other by default.

What kind of schools are you contacting that AREN'T offering you a residency permit? That's illegal...
