The current belief, or another UAE rumour, is that 100 English teachers are need for next semester at HCT as some colleges are having a second intake in February. Also a considerable number of content teachers are needed. Apparently, former teachers have been contacted with offers of re-employment and if teachers can't be found, everyone will be on overload.

Do they pay for overload teaching? ...or is that covered in the 'other duties' section of the contract?

That's some consolation.

As I recall, there were always a few courses to be covered in a rotation for those one or two position shortages that hits everywhere for the first month or two of each academic year... and never once was I paid for it. It was always considered part of the required subbing duties. Mad
