Nobody starts a conversation with one except Queen Elizabeth II and ghost. In the quoted sentence, one does not refer to "any person." |

My shadow again...
Evidently non-English gibson doesn't know that the queen never refers to herself as I in public. She typically uses one (or we) in public conversation.
Non-English gibson should ask himself why he doesn't know this -- and thus why he bothered to leap on my post without first understanding it. Was it the Pavlovian instinct?

Now back to the topic of this thread, what would Henry know about the rights in Taiwan, since he's never been there (though he is familiar with the rights and lefts in England )
Peace to all hiding behind their computers as well as bickering

Englishgibson I am not sure what exactly has brought you over here to the Taiwan forum, but could you please leave the negativity that you express on the China forum back there.
The Taiwan forum is a relatively happy place to post and most questions get answered in a civil manner. I hope that we can keep the forum civil.
Perhaps if you have a problem with Henry then you can take that up with him privately by PM as it really is not of interest to the rest of us.
No offence intended here. I just hope that if you are going to start posting on the Taiwan forum that you give the respect to others that they no doubt deserve.
Thanks. |

The Czinglish-speaking gibson reveals himself (once again) as anti-Semitic. And he and his "little bird" can't even read these forums correctly enough to know that I am American and, when in that country, spend most of my time in northern California.
Poor reading skills + trust in little birds + central-European provincialism = stuck teaching "English" in China

Clark, I should be flattered to have this little shadow following me from thread to thread and forum to forum. Alas, I am not. |

I'd second Clark's suggestion. The Taiwan forum wasn't always such a happy place. Over the past year+, we've done a good job of keeping this place civilized and mostly devoid of personal attacks...
Let's try and keep it this way!! |

I must say it was pretty weird to see that exchange. Not something I am used to since I began wading in these (other) waters. Surely they 'mosa* thought they were somewhere else.

YEAH!!!!!
Oh wait. Does that mean I have to take my valium before posting? Should we start a poll?
*If you don't get my joke, vocalize the sentence. Yeesh. Then again, you may never get it. You'd have to be a serious vet of these boards and the wars that can ensue on them to truly get my jist. For those who don't quite get what I mean, don't worry. It ain't no thang. Just want you to know that I know how to spell. When I write " 'mosa", I mean " 'mosa". |

Valium, Diazepam, T-Quil or Valrelease are recognized medical agents that are acceptable for consumption before posting.
BTW, LOVE the new sig. |

Again, the only rights we as a minority on Taiwan have is the right to do as we are told or leave so long as your papers are in order.
The more things change the more they stay the same. |

Well if you don't believe me call the Council of Labor affairs and ask them yourself what rights you have under the toothless and widely ignored labor laws of the Republic of China.
They will inform that if you intend to make a complaint that you must abide by the terms of your contract as dictated by your employer. Once you sign a contract you have no rights as prescribed under the labor laws of the Republic of China.
That is of course a fallacy that the CLA likes to hide behind to avoid getting involved and doing the job.
Unfortunately there are few others on Taiwan capable of advocating for you, hire a lawyer for 150,000 retainer or find someone who knows how to work the system.
Good luck!

As usual Aristotle's posts are a wealth of misinformation.
| Aristotle wrote: |

If your employer has acted illegally or you are in a dangerous position then you cannot be required to continue to work and the CLA would not do this if you took the time to explain the situation to them.
If you are having a disagreement with your employer about the terms of your work then of course you are required to keep working until the matter is resolved. Would you support the reverse situation where the employer could just choose not to pay you until the dispute was resolved? Of course not.
| Aristotle wrote: |

That's just silly.

As has been discussed here before there are many alternatives to hiring a lawyer and I wouldn't recommend hiring a lawyer in almost all cases of disputes with employers. You can do it yourself for free why pay anyone else? |
