Why do Holland play cricket? Every other country in the WC is an ex-colony(or current ) |

Flintoff's been dropped against Canada for orchestrating a late night boozing session ... pity the ozzies didn't do the same in the ashes ...
There was talk of him being sent home ... but he soon scotched those rumours ... |

Sorry England make hard work of Canada ...
Canada's best player, the hangover that was evidently plaguing the English team, caused England plenty of headaches and discomfort in a match that should have been a spot of practice for their Serious Clobber Department ...
Without a grounded Flintoff, England's firepower looked woeful with six guns KP managing but a solitary four and opener Ed Joyce taking almost a 100 balls for his fifty - the mainly English crowd actually cheering when he was finally sent packing for 66 ...
It was left to wicket keeper Nixon to provide the fireworks with an explosive 23 off 8 balls in the dying stages ... runs that proved invaluable in keeping the finger off the panic button as Canada slowly made their way towards the English total ..

Amazing result that!
I heard a couple of the Irish cricketers on TV and many of them had thick Melbourne brogues. |
Those guys who play for Ireland are really Australians (born and bred) but were able to obtain Irish passports through their grandparents who were Irish - but they are really Australian! They were enticed to play for Ireland with handy financial packages through the Irish cricket governing body. Other 'Irish' players were brought up in England and received their training through the world class counties English cricket system. Few of the cricketers on the 'Irish team' are true products of the Irish cricket system, which is of a much lower standard compared with Australia and England.
These passports of convenience give a misleading picture of countries and who the real representatives are.

Our best hope is for the missing killer to swap a few Pink Panther bombs for cricket balls in the next Ozzy nets session ...
Failing that ... the tournament's taking so long, I'm not so sure anyone will be around to notice who wins it ... |

Not quite true actually ghost. furiousmilksheikali looked this up about the Irish team and found that only three of the players are from Australia with one South African. Many of them were born (and perhaps bred) in Dublin.

I had foolishly assumed(I don't know why) it was an Eire team. But I see that it is a united Ireland team. |

That's odd in a sport where boundaries are of the utmost importance ... |
