Our school has the typical one-week respites for National Day and International Labor Day, although we must make up two days' classes on a weekend. (So it's somewhat misleading to say we have a week off in each case.) In addition, there is the winter break between terms to celebrate Spring Festival, usually amounting to six weeks or thereabouts. For a ten-month contract, that's about it. You may get lucky at your individual school and enjoy a couple days off in the fall for athletic competition. Our school has something I have not seen at other schools, namely testing during the thirteenth week, in which the English majors do not participate, but their classes are still cancelled. |

if you're on the ball, you can easily turn this less than a full work week off into a nine or ten day holiday. a couple of weeks prior to the week long holidays, just reschedule a few of your classes, compress your schedule, and you've got it. |
