I have a general question that I couldn't seem to find covered on here. I am about to begin work in Changhua, and would like to open a Citibank account at the branch nearest to there. Then, I am going to have a family member open an account of their own back in the U.S. Question: will it be possible to transfer between these accounts without wiring, and stuff like that?

thanks you!

Very unlikely. Probably Citibank in Taiwan is not the same bank as Citibank in the US. It is a corporate logo used for a collection of different banks partially owned by Citibank. That is my guess.

Its not expensive to transfer money and you'll probably just want to bank at a Taiwanese bank close to your home or school. I can't imagine there is a Citibank in Changhua, but I could be wrong.

Go for convenience.

Yup....I do all my banking with the Bank of Kaohsiung, and they are fine. I have ATM service, and I can transfer money directly to my bank account back home in Canada with no more than a 2 day turn-around time. I dont know whats available in your town, but you wont find many North American banks here.
