Short-term -what I'd like to do is be in country for 1-3 months tops From March). Not planning to teach full time --but perhaps will try to see if I like it.

I spent 5 years in Asia teaching but don't hold that against me. Wink I smoke but Canada has me well trained to always go outside.

So it could be win-win if you or anyone you know have something,

Cheetrs and feel free to PM

Mexico is a big place. Did you have a particular area in mind? Mexico City, a beach area, something in the mountains?

Here's a site to help find roommates in Mexico.

http://www.compartodepa.com.mx/

It's in Spanish though.

Compartodepa is really good for Guadalajara IF you are flexible in the area in which you want to live, because it's really difficult to narrow things down geographically. I think Craiglist for GDL has fewer than five ads for shared apartments.

mmm...good point. If the OP would tell us the city, and feed us some listings, we could probably give advice on the colonia or area of town.

I second Craig's list. The Mexico City one is really Mexico City and Beyond.

Good point Leslie,

Where I live there are also loads of places to rent just a room. Often times with a private bath. The mostly cater to students or young unmarried professionals. Around here they are a lot cheaper. 1000 or less a month.

Such places are common everywhere in Mexico I've looked, except on the beach. If you're searching in Spanish, a common term is casa de huespedes, at least in DF and GDL. It's not only restricted to students...a lot of Pemex workers that come into DF from other states Monday to Friday rent such places, then go home for the weekend.

Melee, you know how you and I disagree on cost-of-living between DF and smaller centers? Right here is where I primarily base my point of view. I find lots and lots of these places at the same price in DF as where you are. The major concern in DF of course is distance from things, which is always less an issue in smaller towns. I know of one person paying 12000 pesos for a swank furnished 2 bedroom joint, but then I know another person paying 400 a month much farther away. A good average here for being right in the city is 1000-1500.

Where's the OP by the way? Laughing
