I took it last semester. Most of the questions were not that difficult -- naming colours, animals and all the exosolar planets so far discovered. The most brain straining was the 100 word essay, "Why Breathe Soot When Life is So Short?" I only managed about seven words before my time was up.
Still, I must have done well: my FEC was renewed, even stamped with three |

I took the test last week. The knowledge test is quite difficult. It is not about naming colors and animals. It is about China, Chinese history and culture, world events and even have some Math, linguistics and literature questions.
The Writing test is about 200 words. I didn't get a high score in the test. So, I'm a little worried because no one seems to know what China is going to do with the test results. |

The results will be used to roll "waijiao" cigarettes. |

Is this test compulsory to renew a FEC? I've heard in Thailand if you want a working permit you need to take some sort of culture course. Get this, the cost of the course is two months the average salary. |

I missed the question about what China's national mascot was.
I wrote in Charlie Brown when the correct answer was Panda.
I think I may just lose me expert certification over this... |

| Who scores the essay part? Chinese? If so, forget the entire matter. |

| the evaluation has caused quite a stir in my office. I was just about to ask if anyone has heard of it. I've refused to take it, but I'm leaving after this school year, so it doesn't matter. |
