Dear Other John, veiledsentiments, and NCTBA,
Jeez, Louise - you make TWO lousy typos and they never let you forget it
(I've got to admit, though, that last one was a beaut.)
Yes, Other John, you have a Netlog page, and regarding the Latin, well, as a altar boy, I was saying "Mea Culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa" before you even made an appearance in this vale of tears (that was WAY back, when the Mass was still in Latin.)
And NCTBA, regarding your avatar and the mentioned "crosshairs", the individual that seems to be in them is not I - and just when are you planning on squeezing the trigger and declaring:
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Regards,
John |

And as for that ridiculous fabrication about the $2.99 Walmart sneakers, well, it's inaccuracies such as that that make you so untrustworthy a source.
They cost $2.89 and were from K-Mart. |
But you did buy them second-hand. There are some extravagances that are just too much. |

Dear Stephen,
I prefer the term "pre-owned", and buying shoes that way makes excellent sense. You're spared the sometimes agonizing process of "breaking the footwear in."
Just for the record, I am not now and have never been a member of the infamous "500 Club."
And to pre-empt the obvious rejoinder:
If the shoe fits . . . .
Regards,
John |

I've been warned by certain parties not to create any sockpuppets. I said I wouldn't, so I'll hafta keep my word. So, NCTBA it shall remain.
But, I do appreciate the elevation in status. I'll bask in the warm glow of John anyday!
Sir, Mr K

My apologies but the barrel has been downed for the last time. As any long-time poster will recall, I have a certain penchant for 'ol Homer!
An' yes, my former domicile was "FarOut", but I was getting dizzy out there in Sector 9 from breathing too much helium. Life's much better here in NorthEast Pakistan...on the hunt...always, on the hunt...

Sir, your MISSION IS NOT ACCOMPLISHED! Sheikh Osama is not in the Valley of Swat, he is enjoying his cricket match in the valley of TORA BORA, where the field is outside the range of Uncle Sam's satellites! |

You laugh....My husband actually used his sock as a puppet in a Korean elementary school class. The same class where he had to sing jingle bells, making up the words,as it was not a song he learned as a child.
Do you think marionettes would be acceptable? |

Mr JS, Sir, in reference to the OP, you seem to be a well traveled man of the world who is now enjoying the autumn of his life in the domicile of his choice and only occasionally striding out onto the veranda to look at the cowpokes driving the long horns along the Santa Fe trail and wait for the stagecoach to deliver the mail. I wonder, Sir, when we will have the pleasure of your complete and unabridged memoirs? I am certain they would be well received by all here and the wider public in general.
What would be the title of your memoirs??? It would have to succinctly capture everything you have experienced whilst capturing the general public's attention....erm.....in general. I once had a colleague who published an account of his experiences in the fledgling Czech Republic entitled " An Incredible Liking for Beans" ( Vanity Press; $1.29) which was incredibly successful, well with his immediate family anyway. I wonder Mr JS, what the title of your memoirs would be or indeed of any experienced veteran treading these boards.
Your servant Sir. Mr K
PS Technically the semi-colon after Vanity Press should be a Colon but as I received a semi-colon as an unwanted gift I thought I'd use it up. Hope you don't mind.
