I have worked for various schools in SEA for eight years and I'll be arriving for employment in China on 15th June 2009.

It's a shame that most people post in such a fashion, naming and shaming a school, branch or more to the point a business regardelss of their situation. I've had problems in the past working for a school in Thailand but only had good things to comment about the school after my departure. The children were amasing and I had a lovely four years of memories. The same implications similar to the ones mentioned in this thread were noticible. In many cases It's far better to work out a method of commuinication that's beneficial for all at the school than ranting on about how bad the place is. Turning a blind eye to some of the schools decisions has better effect. After all this isn't our country and in most cases more can be learnt from negativity at the end when you move on. One persons negative reflection of another teacher or a school often creates a snowball effect and decline in popularity. Rolling Eyes

I guess I could say just move on there are plenty of other opportunities but wouldn't that seem like giving up on fixing the problem in a more personal way, perhaps with your excellent lessons and a whole lot of happy students.

I suggest try typing in a search for more positive reviews into google and see what happens then.

Your post doesn't make much sense to me, but good luck with the new gig in China. I think by tomorrow a lot of posters will have taken issue in one way or another with just about every sentence you wrote.

Your flights booked what? How can flights book something/anything? After reading what thread? This thread? You mean the thread you started? None the wiser about what? What is SEA? Where will you be arriving?

From just reading your first two sentences I have no fewer than eight questions. Your post simply doesn't make sense.

And you're going to teach what? English? At EF? As the rather grim tailor said as he carried an epileptic out of his shop: "Another perfect fit."

The only way it could snowball.. is if there is more snow...and besides.. what biz is it of yours ... promotion of a school is better left up to those who have been contracted to do so...English first did u say...I for one will be looking forward to your future post ....

LOL. OP escapes the downward spiral of Thailand, gets a China gig at English First, and then announces his grand arrival into China trumpeting sanctimonious ignorance.

Have fun at English First buddy, they're gonna break your attitude right quick. Razz

Rediculous indeed. What is that, Daffy Duck talk?

Unless I misinterpreted a UK colloquialism, I don't think anyone threw any threats. You have made yourself an easy target by belittling the purpose of the board and all the opinions that everyone has contributed on it. The negative opinions, anyway. And those posts, pro and con, serve to help others (including you) steer clear of making poor job choices. Alsoe yur speeling and gramer wich r reely badd.

You are going to be working at English First which has consistently received plenty of negative posts on the board. You then proceed to gloat about how "rediculous" that feedback is. You haven't even arrived yet, but are laughing at us because of this wisdom you possess, a wisdom that previous EF employees apparently do not possess, and who are merely ranting and naming and shaming a school, as you said.

Maybe you're just psyching yourself up to fight through what you know might very well be a bad decision. I've done that before, though not exactly in this manner. Heck, you're moving to a new country, which in itself requires a certain amount of "powering through." Well, I hope it all works out for you. Not all the EF folks are unhappy, so maybe it will be ok.

Calm down, folks. I intercepted an in-house EF memo that explains everything:

Quote:

A phase-one "Super Duper Teacher" clobbered Andy Smith, lab rat at EF Underground Development, with a copy of Jump High 3 before making a dash for the exit. After declaring its allegiance to Bertil Hult, the SDT then began chanting "Death to Those Who Oppose the Brand" and showed little intention of wanting to cease (according to a barely conscious Mr. Smith).

The prototype is believed mostly harmless. Full language capability had yet to be installed before the phase-one escaped. Without the ability to communicate coherently or form complete thoughts, the SDT will likely be found at a street corner asking passers-by why the traffic lights change so quickly.

However, should any DOS reading this memo happen to locate the escapee, make sure to provide it with some overtime. We can really milk this creature.

END OF TRANSMISSION

Hope this eases some worries.
