I have been in contact with a few and so far they have been very helpful, but I am very wary of them due to all the horror stories I have read. The two that I have dealt with are Dewey Recruitment Agency and Asian Consultants. Anyone have any feedback on either? Thanks!

I have gotten two jobs through Asian Consultants.

With them it does not matter. Everything is negotiated with the school. PM me if you need more information.

Just make sure you sign your contract ONLY with the school. Never the recruiter.

Has anyone had any experience with Teach Away? I am a certified teaching hoping to find a public school position for 2010-2011.

Be careful with the public school jobs. They want to give you summer off without any pay. Why would a certified teacher want to agree to that?

Thank you for that clarification.

From some of the recruiters' web sites, I had wondered if that might be the case. This might work for me in the sense that I would welcome a block of time to study Mandarin full-time, but I would wonder about the consequences for the ARC and health insurance....

There are no consequences for the ARC. How can you be teaching when school is not in session?

Asian Consultants have been very good, it's always good to hear feedback though.
