Hi Guys,
I'm considering a move to Ecuador, and Quito in particular. I'd really appreciate any info you'd like to share about the country, the city, the cost of living, average teaching salary, prices for apartments, reliability of internet connections ( I'm studying online), the pollution, the lifestyle, climate, the schools (particularly Souther Cross), and just about anything else you might want to chime in with!
Cheers ) |

Yeah, I got in touch with him last week. He seems to be the man with all the info regarding Quito. I hope he doesn't start charging for the information service!!

Justin, when you've rested up a bit, it would be interesting to read your take on the teaching life in South Korea as compared to Ecuador.

Hey Justin,
No problem, Whenever you get time. I'm definitely interested to hear your opinions. It's certainly sounds positive that you miss Ecuador anyway!!

Justin,
If you don't mind, I would also greatly appreciate some info from you. I am going to Southern Cross this September to obtain a CELTA, and still deciding if I should stay there to teach or go somewhere else after the course. |

I was an ESL teach in China, but...
My current girlfriend is an Ecuadorian (Guayaquil) and her mother used to be quite active in the National government. I'd be happy to bounce a few questions off of the natives for you. |

Hey Sixerfan,
Thanks for your offer, any and all information is greatly received, no matter how small. I'm currently based in Eastern Europe and it's going to be a big change if I decide to head for Ecuador. I'd really like to try and get as good an idea as possible about what I might be letting myself in for. Feel free to pm me if you prefer, though I'm sure there are others who would also appreciate your insight. )
Cheers. |

Ive been teaching here in Guayaquil for about five years now, and am happy to answer any questions you might have about teaching here, or lifestyle. |

Hi, your input is definitely welcome. I'm specifically interested in Quito, but anything that helps to paint a broader picture of Ecuador is also good. How are the working conditions in your city (salary, hours, flats etc)? |

Are any of you old Ecuador hands in Cuenca? Id love to find somebody who is teaching there since thats where I am hoping to find a job after I finish my CELTA course. Thanks. |

In general there are fewer jobs and lower pay in Cuenca than in Quito and Guayaquil but it is possible to find a job.
Try:
CEDEI
Nexus
Wall Street
Instituto de Idiomas de la Universidad Panamericano de Cuenca
Universidad del Azuay
Universidad de Cuenca |

To be honest the reviews Ive heard of Southern Cross are mixed. Good resources, good pay, but they dont get the best reviews for administration. As teachers, Im sure many of us know how important that element can be. Still, check it out! |

Hi, I'm curious to know how to contact the universities you've mentioned above. Unfortunately, my Spanish is very bad and I can't seem to find the sort of contact information I'd be looking for on a university website here in the US. Any advice? |
