I was initially planning on staying in Ecuador to teach after I take the CELTA course there, but I have been reading many complaints about the difficulty and hassle obtaining a visa in Ecuador. This would be my first teaching job abroad, and I would like to do something more long term by staying put for awhile to keep my budget low and learn some Spanish. Does anyone have any recommendations on a Latin American country where the visa process is less cumbersome and is a good place to learn Spanish? Maybe this situation doesn't exist, but any comments regarding this are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The consensus seems to be that Mexico is the easiest in Latin America for getting a working visa. Pretty good spot to learn Spanish with quite a number of programs available around the country and being the largest Spanish speaking country in Latin America, there are more jobs here than anywhere else.

Appears that Mexico is better in this respect, although am not giving up on Ecuador ...
