I am considering coming to Taiwan to teach. I'm interested to know people's opinions on whether they would prefer teaching in public schools or buxibans? What are the advantages/disadvantages to each?
I'm a certified teacher and I have been teaching in Korean hagwons/buxibans for the last 3 years. I'm assuming there are a lot of similarities between the 2 countries private English educ. systems.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone could give some insight into the differences and working conditions of both... |

Hello NZ,
In public schools, you can expect the following:
No air conditioning, 30+ students in a class, Chalkboards, Mixed abilities in a class
Private bushibans solve these issues for the most part.

A major difference that doesn't apply to you is that public school teachers have to be a certified teacher. Buxibans don't. |
