1st- thanks John for the tiny URL link. I see a plentiful future for its usage.

Yes I couldn't get the 2nd w/shortened URL open either but as I C&P'd it from JSTOR from my uni email & library (which generally is frowned upon as it is not supposed to be publicly displayed) perhaps this is the reason for the link to disappear? I was more so wanting to get out the name of the academic journal since it was from within the KSA. I'll have to look again at another time as I can't remember the name.

I think your question was geared towards me. I think it went well. It went on for about 75 minutes so I (think) consider this a good sign. It was certainly pleasant enough. I asked when I could expect to hear back from them either way and was told in a few weeks. I was told to email any more questions I had and I already did and received a reply. I was hoping to have my email forwarded to one of the female staff who would email me back, but the appropriate questions were relayed to someone from the female faculty and then delivered back to me by my interviewer.

Abstract The paper surveys the recent archaeological information for the baliya immolation tradition of pre-Islamic Arabia, whereby a camel or other valued animal was slaughtered to accompany a person of status in death so that they had an animal to ride or to maintain their status in the afterlife. In contrast to the dhibh immolation, which is prescribed in the Holy Qur'an in memory of the sacrifice of the Prophet Ibrahim, the baliya is forbidden in Islam. Unlike the
dhibh immolation, the baliya sacrifice was interred whole and provides precise archaeological information about the circumstances of its slaughter and burial. Information about such immolations derives largely from excavations in southern and eastern Arabia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This would seem to be meandering back onto topic...

Many ancient peoples sacrificed in this way... but it would seem to be a much bigger "sacrifice" in a desert culture with only a small number of large livestock... especially something as important as a camel.

Why not combine the two: cremation and car burial? Of course, it would have to be an older model car since the newer ones (actually, since about 2000, I think) come without ashtrays.
