come teach.
I have not even started yet.
How much compensation should I ask for?
I was thinking $1 Mil if he stays 12 months. Sounds fair, right?
The dir., has several schools. He could probably use a good recruiter as he plans on opening several more soon. I want to get in on the action, eventually, so I won't get crazy in my request.
$2mil is a good deal if you can recruit a teacher who actually stays the entire year, IMO.
Whatcha think? |

The only flaw I see in that plan is that the main reason he's asking you is so that he can avoid paying a recruiter a million won.
Other than that, I think you're set. |

What are you gonna do, wait a year to get paid..do you really think your employer will pay you then? Get paid up front and return the money if you can't find a teacher. |

getting paid up front on a commision job is not how it works in any country that I know of.
For good faith, yes, I would forego payment for the first recruit for up to a year, if and only if there would be many, many more requests for FTs from this guy/ or if he knew other hagwon owners who needed a "great" recruiter.
Shit, I could go to my univ tomorrow and get ten or more kids interested in doing this......1-3% would probably do it, if I was a good enough sales man.
You should've dealt with this Canadian recruiter I talked to. He says he taught in K for three years, moved back to Canadia and now does recruiting full time.
Thing is, he sucked ass as a salesman! did not let me talk to the school he was going to send me to, i never saw a contract, and he was pressuring me to send my diploma, etc to the school!!!!!
this might work on kids in Canadia, but I saw through his BS job quick.
BTW, he is a nice guy, just a bad cust svc/recruiter: named Shane B. |

yes there is it's called 50% now and 50% upon delivery that is one option

Ok this is not intended as a flame or anything but Canadia? Really now. Last time I was taught geography and spelling it was Canada, but maybe that was just my midwest education. |

"Down here" where's that? Last time I heard Canadia used in normal conversation was in Texas visiting family, and it was not the nicest context. It was used in very derogatory manner. I figured that it might have been a spelling error and was pointing out how unfortunate it sounded. |

The current rate for recruiting public school teachers in my district is 1.5 million per person (up from 1.3 last year).
Good luck in your effort, but I'm sure he is asking in the hopes to avoid the fee.

Charge him half. Back in my Gumi/Daegu days I convinced about 6 people to come over and work. Got 500k a head. It's extra money. Why are you worried about making the same as a recruiter? Are you one? Do you have the business? Are you going to pay taxes on your illegal pay? Nope.
Ask for about 500k your boss will be happy cause he saved some coin. You'll be happy cause you now have 500 more to spend or beer.
Most importantly, if your boss owns a bunch of schools and knows a bunch of people...you might be expected to get 1 or 2 people to come over per month. An extra mil...no taxes...no risk.
Just charge half. Trust me it's good business. |

OP- don't recommend ANYONE until you see how the teachers are treated at the school. Tell the director that you want to make sure everything is fine BEFORE you bring in anyone else. |

You might be responsible for the teacher you get....if the teacher sucks or runs away , then the boss will hold you responsible. Make sure you get paid enough to make it worthwhile. |

What happens if your boss doesn't pay you for your recruiting services?
You don't have a chance to get a single nickel owed to you back. The Labour Board wouldn't support you because you violated Korean Immigration policies.
You can teach at Foreign Languages Teaching Academies, educational bodies at a level higher than elementary school, and language-teaching institutions attached to a broadcast company, etc when you have an E2 Visa.

Having said this, you arent eligible to work as a recruiter in accordance with Korean Immigration policies. |

That was my first thought. Especially coming from someone who is considering bolting a safe to the floor because they don't think their valuables will be safe. How could you blindly recommend a place, and at the same time worry about your own safety? |

Maybe the place is okay- maybe not. Take some time to find out BEFORE bringing in anyone else. |
