The other day, I was given an application package by my employer to fill out, and it gave me a checklist of things I need to bring/send to my nearest Korean consulate for a Visa application. It had the usual stuff like a notarized degree, transcripts, passport/photo, etc.

However, I called the Korean consulate the other day, and they told me that for a Visa I needed four things, because I'm going physically to the consulate:

1. Passport Photo
2. A Confirmation Number
3. Passport
4. Cash

First of all, what is a "confirmation number?" They said it is a number given by Korean immigration. But, that doesn't help me. Two, has anyone else did this process in person? I'm getting mixed messages here, thanks for your help.

OK... you send the first list of stuff to your employer/recruiter.

They send it all off to the immigration office and get your visa confirmation number.

Your employer/recruiter sends you the visa confirmation number via e-mail and then you make the trip to the embassy/consulate to get your visa.
