Hey, you Mods and bods,

how come, when I want to search for some info. on Dave's, rather than posting and potentially wasting other people's time...

how come when I want to use the search function for my own research, and after I've read all the postings on one thread,

how come I can't just go back to the total list for that search and pick another thread and start reading that?

What's the hang-up about? Why do I have to start the whole search all over again?

And, why, when I DO start the search all over again, why does Dave's so often say: No, I've searched just too recently, I have to WAIT a bit...?!

I'm very confused.
e.

I saw someone come up with a great tip, unermarked, but quite birlliant.

Use Google and type "eslcafe.com" plus your search item.

This works.

For example eslcafe.com + Ethan Allen Hawley gives:-

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=eslcafe.com%2C+Ethan+Allen+Hawley&btnG=Google+Search

using "site:eslcafe.com" + your search terms makes sure all results come from daves and not any random sites talking about daves.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=+site%3Aeslcafe.com+%22Ethan+Allen+Hawley%22&btnG=Search

Why does have to be that indirect? This is the only site I know that has such a f***ed up search function. Like you've gotta be a 33rd degree Mason to be able to figure out how to use a tool that should be as simple as poss in helping the punters find what their little hearts desire so. I bet it would cost nothing to correct the problem. Perhaps one of the smarmy dave's superlifers with a backgrounding in coding for dirty favours can take a look at it in their lunch hour some time... hm? Like you did with the php bs sbbs error thing?

Really? It's the standard phpBB search function that most sites haves. I'm not sure they can do much about it. http://www.phpbb.com/phpbb uses the same search function, so I believe we are stuck with it.
