You can. It's just not as easy.


Most major mainboard makers have a utility to flash the BIOS from within Windows. Floppy drive flashes are indeed old school. That goes for most all firmwares as well.

What struck me is how expensive that is compared with Dell USA where the same thing would cost maybe $1000. I would shop around before paying dell that much.

I see what you're getting at.

Yes, now I can use the flash utility because I've got ver. 1008. But, I started with ver. 1003 and the flash utility wanted no part of that.

Actually, I am thinking more about your board being able to support current CPUs. It seems that only certain revisions are capable of dual cores.

Ahh. Don't worry. Anything after 1004 dupports dual-cores.
