you're proving my point again...

I didn't attack anyone....

I used an example. AN EXAMPLE. That's NOT an attack.

What do people like you do? Get all up in arms over an example. A legit, accurate example.

I was expecting a discussion between left and right wingers.

Moreover, I don't really call anyone names other than dave's resident roads scholar. That was my point.

As for cheap troll, that goes to my point again. Everything doesn't have to be a troll? Things can be rational, calm, and interesting discussions. Someone could have pointed out some leftwing hypocrisy or nonsense. Instead it was someone calling me a douche...

I would like to point out that religious wingnutters never fail to say the Goddess is punishing people for being immoral:

Katrina, Falwell said it was because the city was immoral.

HIV, many nutbars have said this was punishment for being gay, nevermind that most people who have HIV are women.

There are many more examples, so maybe she does punish immoral people.

I doubt it though.

She doesn't give a flying f*ck about morality. That's why I love her.

Look - what the hell is wrong with you? What you wrote is not discussion-starting material. It's fighting words. It needlessly insults both conservatives and Christians, and gives ammunition to rear ends like stevemcgarrett who would like crow over the supposed moral bankruptcy of atheists or the left or whatever. Starting a gloating 'where's your God now?' thread about a minor Whitehouse functionary's terminal illness isn't a way to start a discussion, it's trying to pick a fight. It's trolling. If you can't see that, then you're either being disingenuous or you cheated on your IQ test.

Perhaps I can simply discuss things without going crazy? I would say that's a sign of intelligence....

Trolling, no, this is trolling: http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=82439

What I did was frame things in a way to provoke, provoke a reaction, and a discussion, and there have been a few rationale replies, unfortunately none of yours count toward those few.

As I said, someone posts something about leftists, or conservatives or whatever that I disagree with, unless it's blatantly bigoted and inaccurate, I'll reply with counterpoints, not calling someone a 'douche'.

I'll use this example to illustrate:

If someone argues "that the people who died in NO because of katrina died because they were poor or too stupid to get out of the way." I would counter with the fact that rich, white people also didn't get out of the way. I would counter by asking why these people were poor and didn't get out of the way, as a critic of education and social welfare systems. In short, there are counters to be made to illegitimate points, which are valid discussions, despite the horror that is associated with them.

Same goes for this case, with the exception that unlike the example above, there really isn't anything 'inaccurate' about my posts/arguments.

Discussions are possible, only if others are willing to participate. As is the case all too frequently on this board, this thread demonstrates that there are few that are willing to participate.

That's fine. I guess I need to start calling everyone a 'douche' in order to be considered a serious poster... I'll not that for future reference.

That said, I don't put much stalk in what OTOH says, seeing as they describe themself in the following way:

Ok, so you ARE dense. Thanks for the confirmation.

Honestly, did you really think you'd get a good discussion from the way you presented the OP? Do you not admit you could have presented the topic in a more neutral, less offensive way?

You know how many people on this thread agree with your general point? nearly everyone. How many people are taking your side? Umm one? two? Shouldn't that tell you something??

And when people are trying to clue you in and say what I just said above, you whine and complain even more.

Listen, or rather, I should be saying read, I guess.... I DID say I could have framed it differently. I chose not to. Why? To provoke. Did it work, no. Does that make me the dense one, no. As I explained, I can deal with a little provocation, and if I can deal with it, and others can't, how exactly does that make ME he dense one???

I agree! Sometimes, we can't see the truths in the middle of the storm, but if we hold on, then it comes in time.
