Yeah, I remember "Zero English". It makes you think you are not going to learn anything there. Actually, though it is supposed to be a good hagwon with students who know decent English by Cheonan standards.
They are definitely not a bad hagwon from what I understand. |

I worked there! And Ding Ding Dang (they have a yellow duck as its logo) but the name comes from the sound that a bell would make, according to the locals....great for the CV. As for Kwaks, it is the name of the dude who founded it...as for DDD, well here is a funny one for you, they have an Chinese academy called Ping Ping Pang...and it gets worse, the owner had a baby boy...guess what they named him????

What about Jackie's Clinic? It's a hagwon, not a health clinic. hehehe^^
Kid's College is weird, too, because it's a hagwon and kids don't go to college. |

Yeah, that Toss English name is quite bizarre as well. I mean when I think of tossing something, I think of throwing something. Don't forget English Mou Mou. I guess you have to learn animal noises at English Mou Mou, so you can moo like a cow if you want? There is also W hagwons where they write W American Language School - Wise and Wide. What does wide have to do with wise? |

There's also a Kwak Hospital downtown. I'd be more scared to go there I think. They don't learn English at hagwons but at least they're not dying, (except for the hagwons with Dead in the name). |

A hagwon opened in my old neighborhood and everybody failed to look closely at the name before all the signs were in place.....Haim Engligh Academy.
While having a drink at a bar in Apgujeong one day, a bus drove by with the name, I Spoon English. |

English Mou Mou is not "moo moo".
Mou mou is a double use of a Chinese character which has the meaning (well, one of the meanings) is "nothing." or "free of ~" - this is the same first character as the Japanese chain MUJI, which as some may know, is like a branded "no name" brand.
I asked my friend's husband about that as he's a hanja teacher. I couldn't understand why it's English "nothing nothing" , but he says it probably means something like "no nothing" or something. |

I know it is spelled mou mou. I said that, but it still makes me think of a cow and that is what we associate with cows, and the word English precedes mou mou. I guess that is like that hagwon called Zero English.
I suppose it must be some Asian concept of starting from zero and becoming something? I have no idea? Anyone? Bueller? At least, I took a stab at it figure out why one hagwon would English Mou Mou and another Zero English.
