US media lies too

it's a bit daft to blame either party really, of course the 911 people would cover their backs if it was their fault, same as the korean family will take the side of their family......

As someone who has lived in Dallas before, I can understand how they died, because of the way it can rain there. I am sorry these people died. I am sorry they were hung up on, but if the operator couldn't understand what could he have done? I have no clue. I can't judge the situation, but if you live in a country for 20 years you should learn the language, so you can communicate with the people, interact with them, be part of society, and perhaps save your own skin.

The media just invent nonsense to get attention, ratings, money, people talking. "It was on TV, it was in the paper, must be true!"

People will believe it, though, and throw another log on the fire of xenophobia and anti-Americanism that already burns pretty hot in Korea.

Korean media is garbage. It is no wonder those poor people believe in fan death and a friendly Uncle KimJI.

These dead people lived in a country for 20 years and couldn't communicate in the language. The are dead because they didn't make effort to fully assimilate.

That is really tragic.

Firemen used to have a big problem in multicultural apartment fires because when people panicked they'd revert to their first language.

For the Korean couple to be rescued the following would have needed to take place:

1. Communicate to the 911 operator exactly what was happening and where the vehicle was located.

2. The police or fire department would have had to find that location in time to see the car before it sank.

3. The police or fire department would have needed time dive into the water, locate the car (in a storm with limited visibility, and no swim goggles), open the doors or break the windows, pull out both of the occupants, swim them to the surface if the water, perform cpr if necessary, then swim them to shore. (Assuming their are at least two people to rescue the two passengers)

For the couple to save themselves the following would have needed to take place:

1. Take off seatbelts.

2. Use an umbrella, wrench or other tool, or anything hard, and break the windows.

3. Swim out of the car.

It was a tragic accident and my condolences to the family. Hopefully something good will come of this and people will be more aware of the dangers of flash floods after this.

Would've never have happened had not the Kims gone out looking for a site for their new business venture in HEAVY RAIN. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that you don't go driving for trivial matters in HEAVY RAIN.
