take subway line 7 to "children's grand park" (orini degongwon) station (exit 1)
or subway line 5 to "achasan" station (exit 4) |

There are signs. You can see many street signs that are in both KOrean and English. Very easy to find. |

I went last year. The flower gardens were nice. The emaciated big cats and the polar bears with green coats . . . not so much. |

they have polar bears??? the ostrich was looking pretty rough when i saw it with my students. is there a real zoo in seoul? |

Yes, and it is depressing too. Especially the conditions the primates live in. |

Yes, and it is depressing too. Especially the conditions the primates live in. |

I thought it was impressive how they were able to recreate the bear's natural habitat of a sh*t-stained concrete cage. It's the only zoo where I've seen the monkeys carving shanks from treebranches and making moonshine in the toilet. |

FYI the park will be converted to an urban green park soon--that's why entrance is free right now.
(I live next door and am looking forward to the change) |
