My fiancee and I have been in Korea for a little more than 6 months now and we are starting to get the itch to go home and are becoming more annoyed by little things here and there. I guess our 'honeymoon' and novelty period have worn off. Our situation at work is alright, things are always changing and that gets annoying but manageable, our location is great and our apartment is awesome. However, we are growing weary of this place and were wondering if the 6 month mark is the usual time for this transformation to take place. |

know how you feel. we are approaching 8 months, and the 12 month mark can't come quick enough. thats more to do with our school though. we've been treated like shite, and despite how much we love our host country, having a bad time with work really takes away from the rest. |

You're over-analyzing your situation. Things are never as bad, or good, as they appear. Read some books, call some friends on Skype, give yourself a shake. This ain't a rough gig, so at worst, think of it as a life experience. When you look back in a few years, ask yourself, what will you remember as being so difficult or bad about your situation? If you can't name something significant, then you're probably over reacting. |

Excellent point.
If everything was dandelions back home, MANDRL, I don't think you would've packed up your bags and hauled off to a place no one's ever heard of. A lot of times people are shocked at how unexcited they are when they get back home, expecting giggles and thrills and it's just ho-hum. |

Stash the cash--it's a wonderful reward for all the inconvenience. |

A funny thing - both times when I came home from Korea, I started to look at my time there a lot differently than I did when I actually lived there. It was pretty good overall (warning, I am in my rosy, home from Korea phase)
Just try your best to do things that you think you'd be doing at home this time of year |

The worst for me was around ten months, when you start to make plans to go home but you realize you can't move for another excruciating two months. Hang in there. |
