Things I've learned from the Discovery Channel while living in Korea:
- China has invented everything.
- There are a lot of deadly sharks in the world, most seem to live in the waters around Australia.
- Australia is the greatest country in the world, except for the shark thing.
- The US military has some friggin' amazing weapons.
- Mt. Everest seems to attract a lot of people with a deathwish.
- China is the center of not just Earth, but our entire universe.
(Is it just me, or has the Discovery Channel become like the Fox News of the documentary/edutainment industry?) |

The Discovery Channel we get here is either coming out of Singapore, Malaysia, or Hong Kong, I can't remember which. Anyway, that's why the documentaries tend to skew towards the topic of Chinese culture.
Their representation of western culture: American Chopper |

there's very little representation of western cultures on the channel here (canada). It's all Dirty Jobs, engineering shows and the occasional rerun of mythbusters or American Chopper |

Discovery has been so dumbed-down in recent years. It's rarely interesting anymore. |

Things I've discovered.
There are some really cool weapons out there in the world.
Adam and Jamie from Mythbusters have the best job in the world.
I shouldn't be alive |

Very accute observations with the exception that sharks are our friends, the wolf is also our friend but very misunderstood, venomous reptiles are also our friends and want to play with us. |

Wolves don't attack people, generally speaking. Neither do venemous reptiles. It's our human-centered vanity that imagines they imagine us as enemies. They don't give a rat's arse about people and, if they could, would prefer that we weren't around to mess up the ecosystem.
I hate sharks. It's not their fault. |

I've learnt that the best documentaries tend to be made by the BBC. |

I've learned that
"He's a psychopath
Right is wrong.
Rape. Murder
Crime. Victim.
In this world are doors.
Behind the doors, nightmares somthing something."
Those ads are friggin repeated endlessly. I know they have to attract jaded viewers, but that's some hardcore shit. I have to turn the sound off. |
