| If you can find them, which is a bit difficult considering their age, I cannot highly enough recommend the Fafrd and Grey Mouser series of novels / short stories by Fritz Lieber. They're witty, slightly caustic, a little whimsical, adventurous and totally unique. Memorable protagonists and a very different take on fantasy. The style changes somewhat from book to book, and some of the later ones get a bit weird, but overall absolutely worth the effort. |

Anyway, back to the OP, I too am an avid HP fan and I thoroughly reccomend the 'Power of Five' series by Anthony Horowitz (Famous for his Alex Rider series). It's aimed at young adults but it's well written like HP. |

| Just go read the Black Company by Glenn Cook. Make you wish you hadn't been wasting your time with Harry Potter. |
