I think the point was to pick somewhere different to your current situation.

Well TB, you already know what I'm doing after this. But for those not in the know... I'm going to a land where most men wear a daggar on their belt... Where much of the population is addicted to a mild narcotic.. And which is Bin Laden's ancestreal homeland.

I was pretty energized about it, but the thought of slow and crappy internet, no hot women, and massive poverty kinda lowers the enthusiasm. Kyobo looks like the Library of Congress compared to any bookstore in yemen. These days I'm thinking, "dang it, why couldn't there be a Middle Eastern version of Korea?" (ie easy to get a decent paying job to teach english with just a BA). Then again, I'm not so sure I ever want to work in a hogwon environment ever again.

But what the hey, it'll be one hell of an experience and at least I won't have any distractions from studying; well besides qat that is.

Posco's Trumpet
I've been looking around on that justiceblind website. It's pretty interesting. I don't know if I have the stomach to listen to the 52 minute sound bite of a botched electric chair execution though. Mad

...maybe tomorrow.

So you gonna keep us updated? Do you have the countdown in days already? I've been quite interested in Yemen for some time because of the architecture and culture.. yet, apparently its so 'middle ages' with the daggers and everything else.. and nonexistant nightlife.. it would be.. well, quite an amazing experience.. would definetely amazing.. but quite a.. well.. like everything you said.

I want too though... Why have the PC rooms never got Real audio installed!

Just a morbid person I.

I'm pretty content with my current situation, and hope to sign on for another year once this contract is up. Assuming my boss will have me for another year (and give me a raise to make up for the recruiter fee she won't have to dish out), and that the school stays open. Her husband wants her to close the school, but she doesn't want to give up her hobby.

If things don't work out in this school, I still want to stay. There's a lot I like about life here.

My desire to return to the U.S. decreases daily. I miss my friends and family, but they've already scattered so much that I couldn't even find one city where I'd be particularly close to most of them.

Should I find that I need or want to leave Korea, I'd probably either go to Taiwan (I have friends there, the money is still good for ESL teachers there, and I'd love to have the opportunity to study Mandarin) or whatever Spanish speaking country can offer me the best deal for teaching (my university minor was Spanish, I'd like to improve my Spanish before I've completely forgotten about it).
