What's the biggest steak you've ever cooked?
I'm frying up a 3.4017 pound steak right now. That's 1.543 kilos. |

Yeah, I don't know. This one was already in a sealed package. Ribeye. I think there are 2 types of ribeyes. Can't remember which kind this is.
Parts of it had to have been pretty near 3 inches before I cooked it.
Anyway, steak's done and sitting in front of me. Time to turn on some downloads and start munching on that and my Caesar's salad.
Yahhhhhh! |

Wow, that's a big one. You might gain a little weight from eating like this at night. I know I am gaining weight here from eating pan seared steaks and fried foods at night due to having time to cook and eat at night. Beer drinking does not help either. Man my nights fly while having a good time. One moment it's 8PM, 10 minutes later, it's 2:30 AM, and then 2 seconds later, it's already 8:30 AM! I must be tired, overeating at night, and not sleeping well for time to pass this quickly after my steak last night. I fee like a big weight falling behind today in competition with the clock and those screaming brats.
Enjoy that big steak, early if you can. |

Are you regularly eating 10 x the healthy meat serve in one sitting? Goodness. You be careful now, that sort of diet can cause plumbing chaos.

You don't know how to fry a steak? Hmm. That's tragic. Use a cast iron fry pan. |

You know what happened to Red the truck driver who entered into the steak eating contest with Homer.......
Best with steak is sear on both sides for a couple of mins, chuck in a glass of red wine and let the gas flambe it for 30 secs. Then pull out the steak let it sit on a plate for a few minutes, while you simmer down the juices, add a bit of fresh garlic, pepper and let the wine and juices cook down for a couple of mins, then the steak should have sat for long enough and then pour the sauce over the top. Easy and V tasty.
Whe I worked in a restaurant I cooked Chateau Briand for 60 people that was 8 stripes of fillet. Meat galore. |

Awesome sounding recipe. I'm gonna try that. Sear in a heavy cast iron fry pan? Olive oil? |

Yep, Heavy's best. Needs to be really hot before you put the steak in. Best thing is to brush the steak with olive oil on both sides first. Not oil in the pan THen a little seasoning first on the side that is going face down in the pan first. Then drop it in. Fry for 'bout 2 minutes(for medium). Just as the 2 minute limit is coming up season the face up side before flipping it over. 2 minutes on the other and then the catching alight. Watch the eye brows!
If its a bit rich and thick you can always add a splash of water just to let it out. Thing is best to experiment, chuck in whole green pepper corns, use half red wine/ half port. Whatever is your fancy. Cooking should be about trying different things and enjoying it. |

Great tip. I would have put the oil in the hot pan first. Cheers.
I eat red meat only about twice a year, and when I do I want to really enjoy myself. This recipe sounds like a winner. |
