Hi. Just moved to Tanhyun' Dong in Ilsan.

Working at Hogok Elementary School

Don't know many people here.

Anyone living around the area, want to meet up and help this newbie to the area establish some social contacts...?

I've lived in Korea for three years and have lived in a different area of Ilsan before, but most of my old friends have left Korea and I don't know any one in Tanhyun' Dong.

Any social groups or clubs etc....?

I lived in Hannam City beofore and one of the long termers there used to arrange these monthly meetings at a chicken hoff for all the foriegn teachers in the area.

I know there are a lot of public schools in the area (I'm working at Hogok elementary) so if any of you fellow waegook sarahm working at them want to hook up for a beer or coffee or whatever, give me a shout by PM....

I'm pretty chilled out and am not a serial murderer or anything, just a 31 yr old English guy who loves books, movies, good food and relaxing with like minded peeps....

Ciao

3 years in and you have to hit up message boards looking for friends? Sounds a bit odd to me.

Well...no wonder you have no mates with a potty mouth like that. Ilsan is chocka block full with foreigners, a lot of whom are long timers, you didn't meet any that you got on with. Sounds like you may well be a freaky waygook candidate.

I'm thinking you haven't read "how to win friends and influence people" Edition 17 published 2006 with extra chapter on trawling the internet for "cyber friends", anyways...i'll cut to the chase, It basically says that when sinking to the lowest denominator and having to use the internet to meet people, you should try to avoid coming across as a psycho. Good luck though...i'm sure you will have people beating down your door in no time at all.

Wow, your advice is very appreciated.

You seem like the kind of person most of us could do with knowing!

You are very knowledgable and like to help those less fortunate!

Well, why don't we hook up?

Hmmm.

An aggressive, sarcastic, rude and unhelpful idiot who responds uneedlessly rudely to a genuine post by someone looking to make friend in a new area he's lived in for two days.

Yeah, I'm sure you're just the kind of friend people want.
