Firstly, I am purely non tech, embarassingly so (lol)..hoping for an easy solution to this. Last night and agian this morning neither Yahoo nor goole (among others) would load up....it was transferring me to starware (whatever that is) but then I got the page cannot be displayed blurb. It's Windows XP if that helps. Any suggestions anybody?

You have spyware on your computer. Run a cleaner (like spybot or something equivalent if you have it) or just format it. |

You can try the same scanners(Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, CCleaner) after booting into safe-mode. Make sure your virus scanner and firewall are up-to-date. Also wouldn't hurt to have BHODemon and SpywareBlaster installed. Also wouldn't hurt to use Firefox(or other) instead of IE.
Or, you can format.
Or, you can try this place...

They're a bit slow, but they've helped me a couple of times when I had some nasties and rathered not format. |

Luckily, blackjack provided the links. ^^
However, it is highly recommended that you format it. Spyware is not just a single entity on your computer, especially since the majority contain hidden registry editors and startup scripts that cannot be identified with standard anti-spyware programs. While the use of such programs will help you, you will find yourself back in the same position again and at a rather quick pace at that. |
