Personally, I have trouble understanding the mentality of dog owners.

Why do people think they have the right to have a dog in an apartment and make their neighbours' lives a misery? (and the dog's life too, for that matter).

No wonder scuffles have ensued when people are forced to listen to barking for hours on end and have to pick their way through heaps of smelly dog crap.

Damn - these soppy, weak-minded individuals need to understand that euthanasia is a much better alternative to the stray dog problem than taking on a pet they obviously can't handle. It would probably be kinder to have the OP put down, too.

Hey, steady on! I'm a landlord in Asia and I reckon I'm pretty fair. Mind you, no-one's asked if they can keep a dog in my apartments yet. Twisted Evil

In my renting days, I had a total of six "landlords in Asia". Only one of them was a conniving little turd, and he was the only one that wasn't Asian - he was an Englishman. All the others were perfect: the only time I heard from them was when I wanted something, and at those times they went out of their way to be helpful.

I should point out that in this thread, "Asia" is Japan.

I taught for one year in a national university. I will not mention the name.
I am no longer there. Before I finished my PhD my mother died. Then I took money I enherited from her and bought a very nice diamond ring. I considered it a graduation present from my mother. Because of my ocd I always make sure my door is locked when I leave and when I get back. One day I get back to the dorm. My door is locked. But my diamond is gone. One of the Korean professors suspected the security guard because he has a key. It was him. I got it back. But officially it is a misunderstanding. He took my diamond so no one would steal it. Shocked

I have a good story about landlords. A little over a year agho we moved in to a villa. The bitch started lying to us from day one. I swear she must have been a hagwon owner.

Stuff she was supposed to do, like fix boilers, replace a broken mosquito net, etc never got fixed without daily reminders for weeks. Her family was also really loud, and we have a baby. They would be up till well past midnoght, screaming, watching TV, etc. My wife isnt the type to take crap so she started fighting with her pretty early on. This old bitch was susrprised we didnt giver her the proper respect.

Crap escalated and it got worse. Anyway, we startd looking for a new place. The year before we put down 60 million and paid 400,000 monthly rent. We asked her for assurances that she would give us back our key money if we moved out. She said sure but wouldnt put it on paper. She also said, in front of the 부동산 agent that we were breaking the contract mutually.

Ok, well fast forward a month and she decided to call our bluff. She told us to get out. She was still under the assumption that we only had 60 million, and for that the only place you can get in Seoul is absolute crap. She thought we would beg not to be kicked out, and she could up the monthly payments. Calling our bluff was a mistake. We had already found an apartment and by agreeing to the broken contract she was now legally obligated to return all of the cash. The last month was basically her trying to find a new tenant, many people came but as to this day, and its been about a month, no body has moved in. She is out 60 million and 400,000 a month and we are living in a nice, almost brand new apartment. I hope she is in serious trouble with the business her husband is running.

You have to realize that these sorts of people are trash. Like hagwon owners. My former hagwon owner was a truck driver. Saved up some cash, bought a hahwon and was now transformed from being a dog who got kicked around by his boss to being a "wonjangnim". My former landlord was a country bumpkin from Jeolla Dumb Do. She is a housewife and her husband is the boss of a factory that is basically smaller than a room. These are nobodies raised in the country who come to Seoul and think they are big shots. She wanted respect from us because she was our landlord, 주인. I wouldnt give it to her. I got disgusted with her and never even acknowledged her on the street. My wife fought with her. What a shock! 40 years younger and fighting with a 주인. Terrible young people.
