OK, I just had a thought.

I download movies all the time, so when I went to the USA 2 weeks ago I brought my sister a bunch of movies. They would not play; she just got sound, and no picture. I did not want to try and adjust her settings, I could have screwed some thing up.

So, I was just thinking, can I let her access my computer and then she can just burn them herself?

If you trust her, of course you can let her have access to your computer.

Now if you are talking about her accessing your computer to download files off of it in Korea via the internet, that is possible too. She probably needed codecs to make the video play. Codecs are computer codes that you can download that tell the hardware how to process video and sound files. There are many many different types of video and sound files and of course, many different codecs, but it isn't very hard to trouble shoot it in most instances. A common solution is the K-lite codec pack which is free. Get the Xvid stuff too.

I am in Korea. She is in the USA. I was just thinking that she can burn movies from my computer, and that way she can get them to play.

Is that a good idea?

Doesn't sound like a great idea.
Just get her to d/l the latest codecs that should sort out any issues.

what you are talking about is called a remote desktop or VPN (virtual private network) and it is possible either through windows (limited) or through software that simplifies the process. At work i use a programme called VPN secure client (don't think it is freeware).

I have never used the remote desktop function for xp but to activate it go to start > help and support > invite friend to help you > etc.

I am not sure this is what you want but you can change settings on her computer.

by the way is she using VLC player? I have never not been able to play a legit file with vlc

and here are some remote desktop application. I have not tried any but all are 4 1/2 star or 5 at download.com (not all are free but most good remote desktop applications aren't)

Unless you are both rather good at mucking round with computers and don't mind wasting a few hours I would advise burning them yourself and mailing them to her.

Also remember that she can only download them from you as fast as her connection, you can only upload as fast as your connection so you have to take that into consideration to

I wonder of the torrent sites would work for her, I tried to access T.V. Links and could not get on it, and when my son was here he tried to get on one of the sites he uses, and we got a message "Out of area".

I brought her DVD'S and she got sound and no picture.

And on that opposite side, I now am downloading movies with picture and no sound, and they are not playing on any player I use.

Thank you guys for your answers.

If your video doesn't play using that codec pack, then I don't know what to tell you.
