A witness said emergency personnel tried to enter the arrival concourse to assist the man, who�d stopped breathing, but were blocked by staff who told them they could not. A scuffle ensued for over five minutes, after which emergency staff entered through another way. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the American, he was already dead.
Airport service staff, meanwhile, blamed the rescue personnel for not properly explaining the situation at hand. The airport itself also blamed the rescue personnel.

I often wondered what would happen if you needed help while in an airport or worse, while on a plane.
Well, there you have it on the ground.
There should be no reason for all this confusion and gridlock over security issues. |

If this happened to a Korean at say, Newark or LAX it would be all over the news, people would already be chopping their fingers off, and I would have to listen to USA bad all day from the kids. That said, I'm sure half a dozen Koreans die from the very same ineptitude each day. How anything gets accomplished here I'll never know. |

| Was it some 60 year old ajosshi guard who blocked them while he was sorting airport recycling. I can totally picture that. He's given like one command. Don't let anyone enter here - and he takes it totally literally with no exceptions. |

| Yesterday I had to order a book as a prize for one of my students on gmarket. It was Harry Potter's new one. I asked my secretary to find it. She couldn't. I had to walk her through Internet shopping on gmarket, where she was ready to give up because they only had the set for 50,000. I had to suggest alternatives like Naver or Kyobo, and to explain to her that you could actually buy one book, not just a 6 book set. Just completely did not want to use the gray matter in her head. Sometimes Koreans are like robots, they can find the answer, but ask them to think, and they draw a blank. |

You'd like to think your answer was intelligent, but it made you look stupid.
I think the point of the other posts before you was that, in other countries, steps would be taken to correct the situation should it happen again.
In Korea, however, they merely blame the situation on others, rather than search for a solution. |

I've twice needed medical assistance while flying. Once with NWA and once with Cathay. Both were because of a sugar imbalance (near the end of a marathon flight) and I was getting short of breath and dizzy enough I couldn't sit up in my seat.
NWA: barely able to mumble I was in distress and they had oxygen there in seconds and the FA beside me for the rest of the flight (maybe 30 minutes) to make sure i was okay. Helped me off the plane and made sure I had some food before exiting.
Cathay: Felt it coming on earlier and knew what was about to happen, so I called the FA and told her get the oxygen... Christ! I had to argue with her, her supervisor (what do they call them, pursers?), and what I assumed to be the co-pilot. They wouldn't listen to me, nor believe me when I said it's happened before and I needed the oxy. I was getting agitated and they pretty much caused my anxiety attack. Ten minutes of arguing before they believed I was in distress. Practically threw the oxygen at me and walked away. They wanted it back five minutes later!
That plus a coupl of other unrelated issues are why I'll never fly Cathay again. |

Fault aside, steps were taken to make sure it didn't happen again.
So far, from Korea, the airport's only answer is "not our fault." |
