Hey everyone,
this will be my first post here but i've been reading the forums for a while (just registered this week). was hoping if i could get a few pointers. I tried using the search function but kept getting a blank page for results. I'm sure this question has been asked before but due to technical difficulties I am not able to do the proper research.
I arrived in Seoul in early September and have been getting adjusted to life here. I'm currently attending the korean language school at yonsei university and am looking for a part time job so i can make my next quarter's tuition and well....eat. haha.
The question or request is, tips for making a resume for applying for teaching jobs. I have a BA with a degree in fine arts, and my old resume has nothing to do with teaching ( i have been freelancing as a photographer and graphic designer for the past couple years). i did teach art to children some 6 years ago though. So, I know this new resume is going to be short. i'm wondering if that's okay or if the korean's really look at your resume. i'm also a gyopo and know a tiny bit of korean, but i dont know if that helps or not.
thanks!! |

Don't sweat it. Use your old resume, and make sure your little blurb about teaching young kids is in there somewhere.
Hagwons won't care, and will probably expect it for a newbee.
Just don't put private lessons taught in Korean on there, or that you taught adults in Korea after you've spent a year teaching kids. To find reason to bust you, immigration digs for that kind of crap with a fine-tooth comb, yet they are unable/unwilling to verify if our degrees are real or not. |

I'm not up on what gyopos can do, but if you are legal to do it, then don't worry. |
