I got several different spam ads for personal ads. I clicked on a few because some of the people looked like some foreign teachers I knew. It turns out they were. Now here is the twist to it, first the ads were adult oriented including some with not so good pics, in addition they were updated with their korean cities not their home cities. I strongly urge foreign teachers to refrain from posting these ads not only because we are here as guests and want to be professional for this country but who knows how the province may take it if it is found out. Just a note all the ads I saw were definitely foreigners but did not know if all were english teachers, public or private. Rolling Eyes

umm you know those most likely are not real ads. websites can tell what country/city you're in by your ip number. just some nude pictures with "hot members in <insert your city here>" slapped across them.

Some of the ads were definitely real. They were foreign teachers I knew. I think you need to read more carefully.

Sometimes you can join one singles site, post a normal photo of you smiling, and other sites will copy/paste it, or someone else will copy/paste it onto another and create an ID for it. Seen it happen to another teacher.

If the photo is of them nude or doing some odd thing, then that's a little difficult to explain, though.

I think the OP's suggestions are words for the wise. I also think there is potential for entrapment of one sort or another. In the environment we are working in here now, I do not think you can be too careful.

Then, you sometimes have people doing it to other people as a joke. When I first came to Korea, my friends back home thought it was funny to sign me up to a couple of dating sites without my knowledge. That was until I started getting endless emails from 40 year old ajummas wanting to get laid.

It was funny at first but I had to stop using that email address as the emails wouldn't stop (I was surprised at how many I got) and I didn't have the password to cancel it. My mates didn't have a naked pic of me up there though but it was one of me wearing only shorts on the beach.

We can be entrapped which is another reason we should not post those ads.

I'm a little confused.
Are you saying that we should not post a picture in ANY singles dating website or that we should not post ANY ad in ANY dating site, or that we should not post ANY nude or sexually suggestive photos on any dating site, especially an adult site (like AdultFriendFinder)?

or hey, how about this one?

do whatever you want that isn't illegal. in the end, only really annoying and lame people are going to care.

doesn't "mind your own damned business" hold any weight anymore? some people like to get laid. nothing against that in the korean constitution.

Im 100% with you uber! What a load of BS!! The single act of putting your photo up on one of these sites along with an ad doesnt harm anyone else insofar as direct effect. I know, someone is going to reply by saying "but when ESL teachers get on and do this, it harms all of us here in Korea by hurting our reputations". Well, to you who say that, I tell you in advance you are a bunch of shallow, nit-witted losers who have been stuck in Korea so long you're turning into one of these people. If you want to be here so bad to save money or be with your Korean wife you're willing to force other people to give up their human rights, you aren't even worthy of the poo I stepped in on the way home tonight.

Its very much a privacy issue. As long as Korea is a country that allows free speech, there is no reason not do this or anything similar if you so desire. I am not just a guest here. I pay taxes to their pathetic government and provide a useful service to their community by doing the work I do. Therefore, I should be entitled to the same rights and privileges. If they can't provide that, we should all take a hint and leave them alone to wallow in their narrow minded xenophobia together as a silly borg-like commu
