...and what is with everyone saying beer? What kind of courage is that?
I think a semi-automatic Beretta would give me more courage than a beer would. Why do you think people buy guns in the first place? |

No offense, but I still remember your avatar before you got here, and can't take anything too seriously when you post. I see that you have hardened up since then, but that little picture still makes me chuckle. The bright eyed little guy has grown up and gotten serious. |

Bright eyed? Little?
Damnit. You going to pinch my cheeks too before you send me off to the school bus? |

| Anger. anger is such a strong emotion that if it gains momentum it can dwarf other rational things such as fear |

I spent the first 30 adult years of my life being "shrill" if I needed courage. It worked, but not as well as being calm, firm, and just broken-recording the hell out of whatever it is you're trying to say:
I'm sorry, I'm not comfortable with the parameters you've given me and I won't be able to recruit someone for you.
But I'm relying on you!
I understand, but I won't be able to recruit someone for you.
But you said you would!
I understand it might have seemed that way, but I won't be able to recruit anyone for you.
But I need you to do this!
I'm sure a recruiter can do it for you, and I won't be able to recruit a teacher for you.
Sometimes conversations like this go on for 20 minutes, but what you MUST do is stick to the same general message...over and over and over and quietly and calmly! It works. It's amazing... |

Find out what a recruiter would cost. Say you'd be happy to do it, but it will take time and money, and you expect an appropriate fee in return.
Explain that for the same money, he could get someone else (i.e., a pro) with more contacts and experience.
Maybe that will help. |
