An early 'Happy Hanukkah' to everyone, especially the Koreans responsible for these childish and insecure cartoons. Check the link below...(props to a Marmot's reader)

Anyway
"Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'hadlik neir chanukah."
L'chaim!
And a happy holidays to all. |

| Anti-Israel does not equal anti-Jew. The most reasonable Jewish people I know are vociferous critics of Israeli policy, just as they (and I) also speak loudly against US policy. |

| I think insecure is right. When I tell my students I don't celebrate X-mas, but am Jewish, they don't really know what that means except that Jews are supposed to be smart and good at business. There's a Hagwon in our city called, "Star of David". Jewishness, for Korea, seems to be equated with financial and academic success. Maybe that's only a few steps away from "money-grubbing". This is only one of many weird, ignorant theories that humans make up about the "other". It makes me cringe, but I think it would be healthier to shrug it off. |

On antisemitism in Korea:
One of my students said to me, a glint in her tiny little eye, "teacher, I saw "Piano' movie, and you are Juden."
"What do you mean? I look like the famous actor, Adrian Brody?"
"What? No...you look smart and ugly, and you like music. Kind teacher! You are Juden! Ha ha ha."
I'm not even Jewish, but that cartoon, I must say, makes me want to beat people up really badly. |

My question: What does Korea have to be anti-semitic about?
Israel is no where near Korea, so how can Korea be influenced by their policies other than to try to poke fun at the US- which is very funky because it comes at the expense of a religion or a culture that has nothing to do with Korea.....
As for Koreans being kept down by the jewish community in the US.........The Korean community keeps themselves down by staying to themselves and not integrating into American society
Yeah, Korea is a "hallmark of tolerance"........... |

I've heard Koreans compare themselves to Jews and it is supposed to be flattering to Koreans (but is arguably very unflattering to Jews ).
