How come when posters get on here writing intellegent and informative threads, they get trolled out or flamed to a crisp?


I didn't care about his avatar as that is each members freedom of expression or trademark, but I saw it as an indirect way of expressing that he feels his country system is dysfunctional and going to waste. It's too bad and a shame that it really is going downhill since we would also like a place and a way to retire like the way the boomers have now. I would hate to see it where the Chinese and Indians own it all and run it and I am squeezed out of the American system in the future which it already has turned in that direction.

A few of the more well known examples of America's brand of democracy abroad. all worth reading about.

General Suharto- Indonesia
Somoza family- Nicaragua
Augusto Pinochet- Chile
Nicolae Ceausescu- Romania
Emanuel Constant- Haiti. for anyone not familiar this is a convicted war criminal currently dodging sentencing in Queens NY. numerous requests for his extradition have been made (one somewhat ironically right after gwb's speech about all countries harboring terrorists would be treated as terrorists) but no attempt has been made to get him to leave comfortable life in the US.

you'd have a hard time finding any popular consensus that would express anger in the US not getting involved in foreign affairs in any of these (or any other country the US has decided to intervene in) countries. if you can find it please share.

for now the US stands as the only state on record which has both been condemned by the World Court for international terrorism (for it's role in the contra war in Nicaragua) and has vetoed a Security Council resolution calling on states to observe international law (shortly after it had declared itself to be above the jurisdiction of the World Court).

What's wrong with meddling in the affairs of other countries? Us Brits did it in India, Africa, and the Middle East and look, everythings fine and dandy.

This is the irony of everything American....
The economy is on the verge of recession (Again), the stock market on a downward spiral, the jobmarket in much of the US (south, northeast at least) is stagnant and the housing bubble has burst...big time!
The US is in a political and military quagmire in both Iraq and Afghanistan (with Iraq being so unpopular that people voted in an almost all-democrat congress that WAS meant to get the troops out of Iraq, which has been vetoed countless times by the administration), they continually veto a bill that would provide healthcare to millions of low-income children (something that is badly needed in my hometown, especially in this winter season).....

Now, watch carefully......The US tries not to portray the shortcomings it has to the world (whcich only come out on channels like BBC and CNN) and instead tries to bully much of the world to follow it.

Yes, the French and British did the same in the late-19th Century and early 20th Century (The global colonial era).....but look at where it led them in the post-WWII age? Kowtowing to the American "big brother", especially since they were enticed to help America after they were given aid under the assistance of the Marshal Plan (don't be fooled, post-war Britain and France WERE also recipients of the aid too, not just central and southern Europe)

GWB made that abundantly clear in this quote; "If you are not with us, you are AGAINST us".......That is cowboy politics (which is what you'd expect from corn bread-fed southerner wannabe).

How many other countries do you see that have as much problems with guns and crime as the US does?

And what bothers me alittle is that some Americans overseas TRY to protray America as this big beautiful country that is peaceful and prosperous and try their best to shoot down any type of criticism people might have about it.
I find it ignorant to try to turn a blind eye to a problem that is staring you right in the face.
I used to be one of those types of people that wanted to show people that the US is not a big pile of sh^t......but after spending significant time away from the US, seeing how it protrays itself abroad and the situation back in the US, I couldn't help but change some of my views.

Do I think like this ALL the time? No
Again, this was only intended to be a rant.

As for my avitar.....I only chose it because it looked cool spinning around and because the system is now defunct, it is only seen as a pop-culture sign..
