Don't forget Wyoming. It's been overlooked in the hoopla surrounding Thursday's Iowa caucuses and next week's New Hampshire primary, but Wyoming Republicans will caucus Saturday

Quote:
So far, no candidate has announced plans to head west for the state GOP's county conventions Saturday. An exception could be Hunter, who has been to several of the state's major cities and held out the possibility of a last-minute visit. His wife spent part of her childhood in Wheatland, in southeast Wyoming.

Whether anyone has an advantage is unknown. There has been no public polling, and those familiar with the results of the Republican precinct caucuses held last month said no clear candidate emerged when delegates to the county conventions were selected.

Quote:
Wyoming has paid a price for scheduling the caucuses before Feb. 5 the date the national GOP chose as the earliest that states can choose national delegates. Wyoming along with New Hampshire, Florida, South Carolina and Michigan, will lose half of their delegates to the national convention in September.

It appears that the candidates are ignoring Wyoming (to protect their assssssets from the RNC). The rest of us may as well follow the candidates' lead.

Even most newspapers and even wikipedia skip it.

Will be interesting Saturday (Sunday morning here) nontheless.

I wonder if there will be ANY (even a smidgen) of media build-up whatsoever over the next couple days.

It's officially next. It's now it's time. I read Hunter is there as he has family connections to the state.

It's only the Republicans running in Wyoming. Interesting nontheless. Wonder how Dems would fare out there.

I could see Wyoming going to either Huckabee or possibly Thompson (he's kind of cowboy-esqe). Ron Paul might do alright out there as well.

Actually they all have stakes there. Mormons with Romney are found in Wyoming, as well McCain from Arizona being a slightly similar state - well, both being 'out west' anyways, not much more than that though.

The problem with Wyoming is all the Republican candidates will be very busy courting New Hampshire. But Saturday night (Sunday morning here), it'll be interesting to see what a western state likes in its Republican candidates.

Mitt Romney wins. His son Josh has a ranch in Wyoming. A lot of mormons in southwestern Wyoming. It's not too far from Salt Lake City.

What's surprising about Wyoming is with its strong libertarian streak, Ron Paul didn't show as strong as you'd think.

Thompson got two delegates, he kind of sounds and acts like a Wyoming person anyways. Duncan Hunter also got a delegate, but I can't help but think it's because of his name!

Of 12 delegates chosen,

Romney 8
Thompson 3
Hunter 1

None for Huckabee, none for RP. Hmmm.

RP does better in non-binding staw polls. I guess maybe when the chips are down and results are binding, a lot fewer want to entrust the country to him.
