I'm very new to this forum, but I am not new to living and working in Korea. What's with all the animosity on this board? I initially used this board to search for very useful information before I decided to take the plunge and join. I will continue posting and hopefully entertaining or helping someone in the future, but I am a little put off by the urges of particular people to open every post and write something patronizing or unjustifiably critical in an attempt to bash the author. What's up with that?
With people like that, I'm afraid the atmosphere will resemble that of the typical foreigner bar in Korea; a place where people who have been here too long go to talk bad about Korea or TESL. My suggestion to those people is if it's so bad, then leave! So, that being said, if you are someone who just comes here to excessively criticize posts or bash the country in which you live, everyone would probably be better of without you and your .02.
Don't interpret my message wrong, I know it is a bit audacious for a newbie to tell anyone on this board anything, especially to leave, but I just feel the overall demeanor of some remarks can be changed for the better. |

I agree, and it's a big reason why many ppl leave this board or don't bother to post (or even read this board). There are friendlier boards out there.... BTW, facebook has some gropus for expats in Korea, as well.
ha ha ha- edit- I meant "groups"....... |

Some people are justifiably patronized/criticized. Stick around for a while, you'll see what I mean. |

Fair enough. That's why I was sure to include "excessively." |

Besides Facebook, what other places to Korean expats hang out?
While some of the negativity is justified sometimes, a lot of it is over the top and sounds more like whiney white boys who only came to Korea to get laid by Korean chicks. I wonder how many did the research before deciding to come, since Korea =/= USA, Canada, etc. |

daves sucks ass
I rarely post anymore because I rarely have anything nice to say and just get sucked into flame wars. I stick around for some info and to give some advice now and then though, i'd like to think ive helped a few people outa little over time.
I do post a little on another nicer less retarted site. I guess i end up back here though because daves is the busiest. Its good to keep a finger on the pulse. |

I know what you mean. There are a few who seem to do nothing but flame others on eslcafe. It's like their lives are so sad and pathetic that all they can do is come on here and try to make others feel just as bad. I'm sure they know who they are. They're probably chuckling at this thread as it makes them feel important. |

dave's is a bad place for research. You can get good opinions, but a lot of it is Korea bashing. Dave's might be the reason why I'm not too fond of ESl teachers here...generally speaking of course |

Actually normally I would partially agree with you, but after this incident
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=109891
you showed your true colors a-hole! Anything comming to you is quite deserved.
You also have to realize that some of the negative comments on this forum are in fact cynical and quite humorous. |

We get a lot of losers coming through here so it's best not to welcome everyone with open arms. Also, every complaint you could think of to post on here has already been discussed to death hundreds of times in the past month alone. |

I actually own a T-shirt company that sells custom hangul tees to (mostly) foreigners. That happens to be our most popular item at the time. My shirts do not necessarily represent my opinion, but the general attitude of our customers.
If you are on the foreign scene much in any major city in Korea, there is a good chance you have seen one of my shirts, sweaters, or advertisements.
Contact my via PM for more info, I will not openly name my company in an attempt to get a bit of advertising out of it.
I knew it would not be long before a few people comment on this post affirming my observation. Thanks guys.

But you took the time to post it in your 'location'... |
