Some okay restaurants there too. Also plenty of bad oes that LOOK like good ones (good building / atmosphere / location - but Koreanised food.

Good for theatre.

Nice atmosphere, simmilar to Sinchon, laid back, optimistic, dynamic, artistic etc.

I love Hyewha. Sounds like you haven't been there for awhile, OP. Since you've left, they've put in quite a bit of public art- of large, plastic, very colorful piles of dung!! I really like that area, but those, er, sculptures are the first thing I think of when someone metions Hyewha.

(Ha, ha- Toby Keith- that would be awesome, and I would totally visit a honkytonk here, but an honest-to-goodness country and western bar here would go over like a _________________). <-------- I can't think of the idiom, but you know what I mean....

*edit* ooops, you live there now (I re-read your OP). That's what happens when I skim posts.

They used to have a really nice sunken open air theater back in 2000 in the park but for some reason filled it and replaced it with a crappy open air theater. No idea why.

Just for the record, the only good country is Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Toby Keith and his inbred political music can die in a fire.

You can take control of the playlist quite easily at Grand Ole Opry, and put Johnny Cash on heavy rotation. Still, nothing wrong with a bit of Travis Tritt from time to time.

Hyewha is awesome, but I wish it had:
    a mexican restaurant
a thai restaurant (had one but it closed)
a few cheap live music place (indie/punk rock)

1 and 2 could happen- but 3 is doubtful. till that happens i suppose hongdae it is when i went to hear music (other than jazz that is- hyehwa is great for that).
