Some okay restaurants there too. Also plenty of bad oes that LOOK like good ones (good building / atmosphere / location - but Koreanised food.
Good for theatre.
Nice atmosphere, simmilar to Sinchon, laid back, optimistic, dynamic, artistic etc. |

I love Hyewha. Sounds like you haven't been there for awhile, OP. Since you've left, they've put in quite a bit of public art- of large, plastic, very colorful piles of dung!! I really like that area, but those, er, sculptures are the first thing I think of when someone metions Hyewha.
(Ha, ha- Toby Keith- that would be awesome, and I would totally visit a honkytonk here, but an honest-to-goodness country and western bar here would go over like a _________________). <-------- I can't think of the idiom, but you know what I mean....
*edit* ooops, you live there now (I re-read your OP). That's what happens when I skim posts. |

They used to have a really nice sunken open air theater back in 2000 in the park but for some reason filled it and replaced it with a crappy open air theater. No idea why. |

Just for the record, the only good country is Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Toby Keith and his inbred political music can die in a fire. |

You can take control of the playlist quite easily at Grand Ole Opry, and put Johnny Cash on heavy rotation. Still, nothing wrong with a bit of Travis Tritt from time to time. |

Hyewha is awesome, but I wish it had:
a mexican restaurant
a thai restaurant (had one but it closed)
a few cheap live music place (indie/punk rock)
1 and 2 could happen- but 3 is doubtful. till that happens i suppose hongdae it is when i went to hear music (other than jazz that is- hyehwa is great for that).
