i've seen an unhappy woman yelling at school girls for engaging in a lively chat on a bus. She told them to shut up (in hangul). The woman was really pissed at the fact her life was chosen for her by her folks and her the end result is her husband is a total stranger.
Now she's 45 and realizing she bought the farm. The young school girls are a n annoyance to her because young people in korea DON'T follow all the rules like older generations. They don't sit quietly on buses because that's what is expected of them. Nothing to do with their talking.
Ipod scenario is a bit different but no doubt she complained because you are a foreigner. If you were a young, tall korean male - no complaint  |

You guys love turning everything into racism. It's ridiculous and pathetic.
It's like the same shit happens to you in the states that happens here, but in the states you assume it's just a rude person rather than think it's racism. But no let's just assume everyone is racist. If someone is being a douchebag and blasting their ipod, especially in a library, and i tell them to turn it down it's not a race issue is it? But because the lady happened to be Korean it's suddenly a race issue?
Anyone who doesn't agree with my post 100% is racist  |

I've sat near several folks whose earphones don't make much difference at all. irritating to have that tinny background jingling on a long journey. but i assumed you dismissed her polite request as 'racism". |

I sympathize with the OP (I may have been a British woman in a previous birth...)
I think subways are good for venting (and sometimes "accidentally" knocking people over ...)
Last week, I had to get on using a single crutch (a few days after knee surgery.) Annoyed that I couldn't find any seats open in the handicap sections, I just plowed through a few cars, bodies bouncing off me, gasping and shrieking...
(Good thing I wasn't in a bad mood - or I might have used the crutch as a battering ram ...  ) |

Pretty sure I would have just asked any able-bodied people if I could sit down. 
They probably would have gotten up if they were actually addressed.
Failing that, I'd have gone with your route out of frustration. |
