Shocked

Congratulations. You waste approximately ONE MONTH out of your year in transit. Do the math.

I do it because I have found a school that fits me. .

What? They don't have apartments near by?

My wife and I own a villa and I get a monthly sum to compensate for not using the provided apartment.

i've seen an unhappy woman yelling at school girls for engaging in a lively chat on a bus. She told them to shut up (in hangul). The woman was really pissed at the fact her life was chosen for her by her folks and her the end result is her husband is a total stranger.
Now she's 45 and realizing she bought the farm. The young school girls are a n annoyance to her because young people in korea DON'T follow all the rules like older generations. They don't sit quietly on buses because that's what is expected of them. Nothing to do with their talking.

Ipod scenario is a bit different but no doubt she complained because you are a foreigner. If you were a young, tall korean male - no complaint Smile

You guys love turning everything into racism. It's ridiculous and pathetic.

It's like the same shit happens to you in the states that happens here, but in the states you assume it's just a rude person rather than think it's racism. But no let's just assume everyone is racist. If someone is being a douchebag and blasting their ipod, especially in a library, and i tell them to turn it down it's not a race issue is it? But because the lady happened to be Korean it's suddenly a race issue?

Anyone who doesn't agree with my post 100% is racist Very Happy

Blame it all on the Americans! Damn and blast!

Despite knowing many wonderful Americans, I am not one. Nor am I rude, racist, male, or really as bothered by today's excitment as the rest of you.

Because you took all the cool and didn't leave any for the rest of us

Not if everyone else can hear it.

I've sat near several folks whose earphones don't make much difference at all. irritating to have that tinny background jingling on a long journey. but i assumed you dismissed her polite request as 'racism".

Excuse moi? Wherein lies the racism in even a smidge of what I posted? Oh yes.
There it is.
NON EXISTANT

Irritating. Yes you're quite right, that does TEND TO BE THE NATURE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT, doth it not?

To quell some of your collective antagonism, for I fear it reaching unhealthy levels.....

The music, she was not loud.
The man selling belts in the same car was most indisputably far more audible than I.
Long journey my arse, she had less than a stop left.

You are the one who want to defend the reputation of foreigners. That is a racist idea.

This happens all the time. Unless you were listening to it without the headphones, she has no right to ask for that. She can get up and move her seat if she doesn't like it.

I sympathize with the OP (I may have been a British woman in a previous birth...)

I think subways are good for venting (and sometimes "accidentally" knocking people over ...)

Last week, I had to get on using a single crutch (a few days after knee surgery.) Annoyed that I couldn't find any seats open in the handicap sections, I just plowed through a few cars, bodies bouncing off me, gasping and shrieking...

(Good thing I wasn't in a bad mood - or I might have used the crutch as a battering ram ... Twisted Evil )

I am on the subway for 3 hours each day to and from work, I usually read a book or occasionally watch a movie (with headphones) on a portable DVD player. Let me tell you, there is nothing more annoying than someone sitting next to with an MP3 so loud I can hear the lyrics of the song. If you want to listen to it, great!! The others on the train and I do not. Just turn it down to a reasonable level and everyone is happy!!!

Good morning, Grumpy Senator. How nice to meet you on this fine, fine day.

It's quite a leap to assume that my ipod was turned up just so atrociously high in the first place. Y'ALL.

For, alas, t'was not.

"Reasonable" is my ipod's middle name.

Yet in this thread, you seem far from it.

CC you are ridiculous.

You seem to have spent so much time on Dave's that you actually have come to believe that you are the dork in your avatar....

And in only 20 days of being here, you've managed to not only get a handle on who I am, but also post up over 140 posts Shocked

Wow man, perhaps you're the one who is in need of some time away from the computer?

Pretty sure I would have just asked any able-bodied people if I could sit down. Wink
They probably would have gotten up if they were actually addressed.

Failing that, I'd have gone with your route out of frustration.

Bonjour! There are elements of the unusual in us all, my delicious one of favourable greetings. Let us revel in our mutual joys, and send sweet kisses the way of The Peasants Dave. They are a little tightly wound, given that they have not, thus far, embraced the coy dance of sarcasm within. Send unto them PEACE and HELP in GETTING OVER IT a wee bit.

Over and out, tally ho.
